Ikigai

Ikigai is a concept for a neighbourhood cafe launched by Cafe Delhi Heights.

The idea is to create a comfortable space which is uplifting and mindful and can be an extension of your home at any time of the day.

Ikigai in the defence colony plugs into the community as a sort of library space.

An old 80s Delhi house was restored, in a way where we kept the warmth of the smaller spaces and carved out seating pockets amongst shelving. We retained the terrazo floors and low beams and built the spatial language around this scale.

Jaiselmer stone, mustard accents and teak wood details create a familiar and comfortable pallete. The chandeliers accentuate the old world charm. A corner room became a cosy little speakeasy carved out as its own entity.
